

the lilac-breasted roller is a colorful member of the roller family native to africa, particularly sparse woodlands and savanna habitats. though most of the roller family are colorful birds, the lilac-breasted is distinct in its purplish chest and bright markings. this roller is omnivorous, but mainly feeds on small prey such as lizards, insects, and occasionally smaller birds.
